Atticus is a brand of clothing founded in 2001 by Dylan Anderson along with Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge (of the pop-punk band blink-182) and Jon Humphrey.
The company's name is derived from the main character of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch, as well as Herodes Atticus, a Greek rhetorician who supported music and the arts. The Atticus brand's women's line is called Atticus Scout, after another character from the novel. Resting Bird which is owned by Hoppus and DeLonge is also based on this theme. The company's logo is a dead bird laying upside down. It is believed to be a pictorial representation of the novel's title.
The Atticus company is heavily influenced by music and have released three volumes of their Dragging The Lake compilation CDs, featuring songs from bands such as New Found Glory, Bane, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Death Cab for Cutie, and Rise Against.
Labels are for clothes, not people. The ATTICUS vision is fashion for todays youth and we want to give this generation a choice. We create clothes for those who create music.
This is the foundation that ATTICUS is built upon.
