Appearing on the cover of TIME magazine in 1979, Pope John Paul II wore the Alisee cross - often mistaken for the Iron Cross ‚?? a religious symbol which Independent saw and decided to call its own. Since then this logo has been synonymous with a skate brand that believes in being original and the best it can be.
Established in 1978 in Santa Cruz, California, the Independent Skate brand is the brainchild of founders Jay Shiurman, Richard Novak, Eric Swenson and Fausto Vitello and is the response to their frustration at the lack of decent trucks available at the time. The only two main competitors back in the late 70‚??s produced trucks that either broke or didn‚??t turn so Independent decided to fill the gap in the market. Today Independent Skate Trucks are still some of the best your money can buy you but as well as hardware; independent Clothing is a big hit on the scene. Available at Blackleaf.com at the best prices you can enjoy Independent Skate Jeans, Hoodies and Independent Accessories.
